FAQ about George Washington University Sat Optional

Can I submit my SAT scores to GW before applying?

If you submit test scores to GW prior to applying but apply as a test-optional candidate (e.g., you take the SAT or ACT in 11th grade and send scores to GW but decide in your senior year to apply as test optional), your scores will not be considered as part of your application.

Is the University of Washington test optional?

The UW is technically test-optional. However, test-optional can mean different things at different schools. At the UW, you will not be disadvantaged for sending low scores or for not sending scores. In fact, when reading your application, the reviewers will not see your test scores, if provided.

Does the University of Washington require the SAT/ACT?

The University of Washington removed the SAT/ACT requirement for incoming students. Read the June 11, 2020 announcement for more information. At the UW, we want to see a broader picture of the student and their achievements and we caution students and their families against placing too much emphasis on standardized tests.

Does gwgw superscore the SAT and act?

GW will superscore both the SAT and the ACT, which means that the Admissions Committee will consider only the highest critical reading, math, and writing scores you’ve submitted, regardless of test administration. We will not recalculate a new composite score from subsection scores on various dates.
